I’ve had the opportunity to meet so many of the great magicians of the past.
Among these were Al Baker (our Assembly’s namesake because he was born in
Poughkeepsie), Al’s son-in-law, Jay Marshall, Dai Vernon, Harlan Tarbell,
Milbourne Christopher, Harry Blackstone, Harry Blackstone Jr., Jimmy Grippo.
Others who lived nearby and came to our meetings many times – Walter Gibson
(noted author for the magic world), his wife, Litzka Raymond Gibson (former wife
of the “Great Raymond”), Slydini, William Arenholz, Father Cyprian, Gerald
Kaufman, Dr. Joseph Fries, George Sands, George Schindler.
I’m still meeting so many great magicians, they are the members of our Assembly
today! My field was stand-up magic with an emphasis on children’s shows. |
