I was inspired by Doug Henning... because he strived to make the world a
magical place--a place filled with a child's sense of love, joy, and
wonder. Unfortunately, the world lost one its best showmen today at a time
when we need these qualities the most.

I was inspired by Doug Henning...! When I was young Doug was the
only magician around. My interest in magic was really set ablaze
with Doug's first NBC Special. Through the years Doug's charisma and
likeable style were a joy to behold. Doug Henning was one of the few
magicians that really had the aura of a REAL magician. He believed
in magic, he was magic and magic surrounded him. The passing of Doug
Henning is a sad day for the world of magicians and magic fans everywhere.
But rest assured Doug would want us to rejoice in the wonder of life and
creation.

I was inspired by Doug Henning... I met Doug at the Cort theatre back in
the day of the original MAGIC
SHOW. Doug was a great person! I saw the
show about 5 times and all 5 times he took me back stage ( I was a young
magician ) 23 years ago when i met him and he was about 15 years my elder.
I have wanted to catch up with him ever since and today I learned that
that will now be impossible. Good Bye friend!

I was inspired by Doug Henning...
I met Doug in 1977 while studying with Maharishi
in Europe. Often, I would
join him at the dinner table or go for strolls together. I was impressed
and inspired by how 'full of life' he was. You couldn't help but feel
really happy around him. He was a very sensitive, humble and giving person and that is how I will remember him.

I was inspired by Doug Henning...
I think it was the spirit and fun that was Doug performing magic, from the
first TV special, thru the last time that I saw him and Debbie perform
live at the Warner Theater (DC,1986), I always felt like a kid. It was
never serious and dark, just fun and amazing.
Doug may be gone, but his magic lives on in those that he touched with his
performances.

I was inspired by Doug Henning... and so was my husband. As
children we were both caught with the wonder that Mr. Henning provided
us. My husband was particularity taken with the magic and made some
attempts at learning it :). My husband was very inspired as a young
boy by Mr. Henning, partially because his name is Doug as well it
made it all the more tangible for a young boy to believe he could do magic
as well. Our condolences to the family and everyone near and dear to
you. Take this time to hold the ones closest to you and tell them
how important they are in your life, and how much you love them. once
again, our condolences, peace and love to you and your family

It brought great sadness to me, when I read the news this morning. A
great magic idol has passed away. Doug Henning was a manifestation of my
youth. He broke away from the classical magician stereotypes and was
a man of his times. It was a time of liberation and freedom to do
what you want to do and be who you want to be. I will always
remember the longhaired magician in tie-dyed shirts, who brought wonder
and excitement into my life. As I read the news today of his death
it brought me back to my childhood days-I recall yelling and screaming
with my older brother and younger sister in our wood paneled basement in
Burlington. We were fighting over what we should watch on
television, and of course we know who won: The Magic
Show. Doug's
quintessential performance in the art of magic will be greatly missed,
however he will not be forgotten. His sprit will live on in all
those people he entertained and influenced. My deepest condolences
to his wife, family and friends.

I was inspired by Doug Henning...after seeing his first television special.
Every year I anxiously awaited his special. I had the pleasure of seeing him
perform several times. On June 21, 1987 my wife and I were lucky enough to see
Doug's last illusion show. That night we met backstage with Doug and his wife
Debby and the next day they were off to India.
I hope that when Veda Land opens to the public it has an area dedicated to Doug
Henning. Doug created awareness of TM to a wide range of people that would not
have known about it otherwise. He devoted many years of his life to this project
and I hope it does become a reality in the near future. Our condolences go out
to Doug's family. Doug Henning will be missed.

I was inspired by Doug Henning... Back in 1976, I had the opportunity to see one
of his performances at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. After the show, a
friend who new Doug, asked me to join him for dinner that evening. I
remember quite well how he reminded us at dinner that he did not perform magic,
rather is was a series of illusions. That he did and did well!

I was inspired by Doug Henning...because he was and still is a great Canadian
Magician. I have just recently started performing magic and I would love to talk
with Doug Henning about 'magic' in Canada. I know that magic in the US and
anywhere else is big. There is just not enough exposure to magic here in Canada.
I attended The Chavez Studio of Magic in La Verne, Cali. under Dale Salwak and
over there magicians are a dime a dozen. How does a Canadian magician make it
big when there is just no exposure...I know one of the answers - PRACTICE, PRACTICE,
PRACTICE. I hope to be as big as Doug Henning someday. A GREAT CANADIAN
MAGICIAN!

To whom it may concern:
In 1981 my wife and I had the pleasure of working with Doug
and Debbie Henning extensively in the filming of an illusion. Doug used
our zebra, Starburst, to turn a black and a white horse into a zebra.
In the years since, we have lost track of Doug and Debbie as
well as general manager Steve Kirschner, and, as we are retired now, would enjoy
contacting them once again, as we still consider them to be good friends.
Any direction you could give me would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks,
F. Neil Hinck, Star, Idaho
